IS THE HIP HOP CULTURE BECOMING HOMOPOHOBIC
In the wake of reports that popular hip-hop DJ Mister Cee was arrested for public lewdness, the discussion of homosexuality in hip-hop has been given renewed light. Author Terrance Dean, who penned the book Hiding In Hip Hop: On The Down Low in the Entertainment Industry From Music to Hollywood, weighed in on the topic from the perspective of a gay man who grew up in hip-hop culture.
“Hip Hop is a culture and environment which does not provide a safe place for an artist to come forward or to come out. If you listen to many rap lyrics they promote hate and gay-bashing. It is an environment where the thug and gangster mentality is prevalent. Artists boast of a hyper-masculine bravado, with their crotch-grabbing, degradation of women, and their braggadocios lyrical slaying about the number of women they’ve slept with and children they’ve produced. There are some popular phrases

![Kanye is probably twitching in his seat after hearing that his former girlfriend Amber Rose has a new radio show coming to Jamie Foxx’s Foxxhole radio. She was a guest on Foxxhole Radio this past weekend and revealed that she would be co-hosting a show with a few of her girls. They will be discussing celebrity news, pop culture as well as their own lives.
During the show, she also discussed her relationship with Kanye West, denied being dropped from Ford Models and threw a little bit of shade on Kanye’s ex-fiancee Alexis while on the show. Check out the highlights below:
On when she would be taking off her clothes or releasing a sex tapeDidn’t you see my titties on South Beach? There ain’t gonna be no sex tape, I’m not into that sh*t. I’ve been offered a lot of money but I chose not to do it. I chose to take the high road and I feel like just because of my past and my profession and what I did in my past doesn’t mean that I [would do that]. I was a stripper since I was 15-years-old. South Philly. I was a South Philly hood rat my whole life.
I feel like I grew up. [I’m] more cultured. I’ve traveled the world now, I’ve learned more things [and] I’ve learned how to speak well.
On whether her and Kanye would get back together No, I don’t think so. You know in every relationship you have problems and you try to work through and then sometimes things don’t work out. But it was very real for me. I was very much in love. I was with him for two years. We lived together, we traveled the world together, we had a lot of fun together. A lot of really cool moments…I was the ill bitch to a rock star.
On whether she participated in threesomes with KanyeI’m not into threesomes. I had two, 3 year relationships with women. So, I was with women for six years before I met Kanye. [He knew that]
On getting whether she was dropped from Ford Models after the break upI was not dropped from Ford Models, they closed their celebrity division and my contract was up. What people don’t understand is when you’re in a modeling agency and your contract is up but you still get jobs without them. It’s a good thing, so they don’t take 20-30% of your money. I walked fashion shows in Paris, London, New York even after my contract was up. I didn’t have to [re-up with them] I was getting work without them and it’s easier to get my own money without paying them.
One of the co-hosts argued that she had achieved fame off of Kanye West’s name and exploiting that she slept with women, in which Amber responded:
I never wanted to be famous it just happened to me. I literally was with someone that I loved very much and we were out people would say “Kanye I love you but can you snap a picture of me and Amber Real quick?”
Me and Kanye were in a very committed relationship. When I was out with Kanye, I became famous. He was with a girl for six years that he was going to marry. What’s her name again??](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_li2aacJbFu1qfrl5mo1_400.jpg)
